Private Tour: Honeymoon in Vegas

Exclusively designed for an unforgettable evening, this package includes round-trip stretch limousine transport, dinner at the elegant Mandalay Hotel and Casino, and admission to Rum Jungle. Boasting state of the art decor from fire walls and waterfall walls to volcanic mountains of rum and go-go dancers performing above the huge bar area, Rum Jungle is the hottest night club in Las Vegas.

Venue: Mandalay Bay Casino/Rum Jungle Discoteque

Renowned designer Jeffrey Beer’s tropical fantasy is a 20,000 square-foot spectacle for the senses. Guests pass through a 22-foot tall wall of fire and are met with the cool rush of a waterfall followed by a spectacular three-tiered dining area. The exotic a la carte menu features such delicacies as Blue Corn Fried Calamari with dangerous salsa and cilantro-ginger pesto, and Cuban Coffee Smoked Ribs with guajillo BBQ sauce.

From the Brazilian Rodizio-style “fire-pit”, signature entrees include Wood-Fire Mai-Tai Cured Island Spiced Salmon and Huli-Huli Rotisserie Chicken with a Pineapple Teriyaki Glaze. At night, Rum Jungle turns into a nightclub considered to be one of the hottest in Las Vegas, featuring the world’s largest and best rum bar, measuring 144 feet long and 19 feet high.

Las Vegas and Elvis – His last Concert (picture)

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

elvis last concert 1977 Ind.

This is said to be a picture of Elvis at his last concert in 26 June 1977 in Indiana.

Elvis had a long History with Las Vegas. Starting in the mid 50’s where He for all popular accounts flopped because his fan base were not old enough to come to Vegas. Not till his good friend Liberace talked him into coming back , going so far as designing his now famous jump suit with cape, did Elvis return in 1968 performing at what was than the International (now the Hilton)

You can still find some old haunts Elvis visited like the The wedding chapel now on the south end of the strip where the wedding scene from Viva Las Vegas was filmed and Piero’s Italian restaurant said to be the only place Elvis ate at outside His penthouse at the Hilton.

Stratosphere Tower Rides: Las Vegas heart stoppers

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Stratosphere Tower Rides:
Insanity has seats tethered to an arm that swings out beyond the tower leaving riders dangling 1000 feet in the air. As the ride begins its circular motion, the seats rise and tilt downward to the Strip. Insane indeed.

XScream resembles a giant seesaw that sends riders teetering over the edge of the tower.

The Big Shot is a hydraulic freefall drop tower, similar to many found at theme parks–except this one is on top of the tower.
It’s kind of hard to miss the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas; the nearly 1000-foot behemoth is visible from anywhere in Sin City. In a town known to embrace the outrageous, it’s still insane to discover that there are thrill rides ATOP THE TOWER. Even more audacious than the people who thought of placing rides on top of the Stratosphere: the nuts who ride them (that’d be me…and you?). None of the four rides would be particularly noteworthy if they were planted on the ground, but at more than 900 feet above Vegas’ famed strip, they’re all beyond wild–and two of them may just be the most thrilling, if not terrifying, rides on the planet. It’s all about psychological thrills, and these rides give acrophobia a whole new meaning. When the see saw-like XScream totters over the edge of the tower, or when Insanity (speaking of insane) dangles above the Strip and tilts its cars down as if to eject its passengers, psychological thrills just don’t get a heckuva lot more intense. The Big Shot is a fairly standard drop tower ride, but when you’re freefalling 1000 feet in the air, all I can say is, “Yikes!” For those too squeamish to brave the attractions, just riding to the top of the tower is an adventure that I’d highly recommend. You’ll get two different experiences during the day and Vegas’ neon-infused night. If you’ve got the time and the dough (reward yourself if a slot machine pays off!), try both.

Old Downtown Las Vegas – Fremont Street experience light show

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

The most obvious and largest part of the Fremont Street Experience is the Viva Vision canopy and light show. The canopy towers 90 feet above the ground and spans the length of five football fields. Featuring more than 12 million LED modules and 555,000-watt sound system, the light show attracts tourists and locals alike.

The first light show was broadcast in 1995. Nearly a decade later in 2004, $17 million was invested in upgrading the Viva Vision canopy. Significant improvements were made and now it has 10 times higher resolution, resulting in clearer, sharper pictures. It can also display 16.7 million color combinations. The display is so sharp, live video can be broadcast on what is the world’s largest screen.

Viva Vision features shows like “Lucky Vegas,” celebrating the city’s famous icons, “Downtown Divas,” a tribute to a girls’ night out and “Speed, Smoke and Spinning Wheels,” which illustrates the world of fast-paced auto racing.

Psychedelic shows include “The Drop,” a journey through an underwater utopia filled with beautiful sea creatures and “Shag With a Twist,” an animated show that features Southern California artist Josh Agle’s unique artwork combining elements of “Austin Powers,” “The Jetsons,” tiki culture and ’60s imagery.

Visitors can also enjoy the patriotic show, “American Freedom” during Fourth of July.

Released in Spring 2008, “A Tribute to Queen” is the first Viva Vision show dedicated to one artist. Visitors can listen to “We Will Rock You” and “We are the Champions” while admiring the stunning graphics above.

Inside the Fremont Street Experience building, a master control room delivers all the magic to the Viva Vision light show. Technicians have only three minutes to load the show on the big screen. They are assisted by eight high-tech computers that intertwine the light, visual and audio systems.

Cameras are mounted on the actual Viva Vision screen and transmit a live video feed to a row of LCD screens inside the control room so technicians can monitor the show.

New Viva Vision shows are created each year and are rotated in and out. The Experience can choose from a library of about 15 shows at any given time. [source]
